S+E: A battle over Hiver

This was lots of fun to do. I definately need to do more full pictures like this one- I get really lazy when it comes to doing backgrounds and the like.
I know it's not perfect (I mean, look at the size of those trees compared with the city! Then again, I could get away with saying that they're meant to be giant), and I was kinda lazy when drawing some parts of this, and used quite a bit of scattering, but I'm actually really happy with it. Epecially the awesome airship on the right hand side, and the cool little hot air baloons, hehe.
I put quite a bit more thought into developing how the airships work, which you can hopefully see.

Ok, some explanations. The city in the image is Hiver, the winter capital of Elsewhere- a slightly more modern minded culture than Ethéy. Being at the winter end on the island, it gets a lot of rain. If you look very carefully, you should be able to see little funnel structures coming up from some of the buildings. These collect the rain water, and run down the pipes, spinning a turbine, and power is generated. There's also a huge water wheel, which is easy to see, and a viaduct sytem, which is harder to see .

Those baloons have come from the ship on the left- they used to be a part of the whole group keeping the ship in the air, but can double up as escape vehicles when the ship needs to be abandoned. Of course, with less baloons, that ship is going to start dropping towards the ground. Which is a bit unlucky for the woman still stuck onboard and being shot at.
